Confusion with web development?
There are so many ways to create a website, to market your web presence and to network with the larger community. Our talented team can help you at any stage of your development. To help you with your web development we have created a set of stages for any project you might have.
Stage 1: Server and Domain Name
If you don't have a website you will need a domain name and a server to host your webpage on. There are many places to get your domain name and they usually charge $10 and up. Depending on who you choose to host your website, you can get special deals. For many of our small to medium sized clients we encourage them to go with Bluehost. The hosting only costs $6.95 a month and it includes your domain name and provide telephone support.
Do I need a VPS?
A VPS might be a good fit if you fall into one of these categories:
- You have outgrown shared hosting
- You have a desire to learn Linux
- You need the flexibility to install custom applications
- You prefer to maintain your own server
- You don't want to purchase a more expensive dedicated server
- Or you have any other idea or solution that needs to be implemented
A VPS might "NOT" be a good fit for you if:
- You are not comfortable using the Linux command line
- You don't want to tweak and optimize your VPS for performance
- You don't have the desire to research problems
- If you fall into this category you might want to check out Bluehost.
Stage 2: Website Development and CMS
At this stage you are ready to have your website designed. We go about this in two different ways. You can have a site design based off a template that we customize or you can have a fully custom designed website. For fully custom designed websites we bring in our designer to produce a magnificent one of a kind site which cost a bit more.
Once you have a design for your site we are ready to build your site in the Content Management System (CMS) of your choice. The three we recommend are:
WordPress – this is a lightweight CMS that is very powerful for small to medium sized sites and great if you want to blog.
Joomla – We suggest Joomla if you are focused on building a social networking community a bit more expensive than WordPress, but well worth it.
Drupal - Finally if you want a totally custom site programmed yet has the ease of a CMS then Drupal is the way to go. Many large sites like The White House, Yahoo, Adobe.
Stage 3: Social Networking
At this stage you have a website, but does anyone know you exist among the millions of other sites out there? We will help you get up and running on numerous social networking sites such as Facebook, Myspace, Twitter and more. WIth these sites you can get the message out that you are on the web and over time this will organically bring people to your site.
Stage 4: Marketing
Now you are ready to market services and products and with a targeted email blast or collecting emails via your site, you can then drive traffic to your site or to a landing page to focus on a particular product or service. This is where we bring in the power of Aweber to help you. This can also be combined with Internet advertising through Bing, Yahoo or Google. There are also sites we can find for you that relate to your business and you can advertise on their sites.
